Following a serious backlash and condemnation that trailed a purported new logo by the management of Plateau United FC, the Chairman of the club, Al-hassan Yakmut, has suspended the rollout of the controversial logo indefinitely.
The new logo which was supposed to replace the old logo of the Peace Boys had drawn a lot of flak from club supporters who felt it did not reflect the attitude of the team.
In a statement suspending the launch of the controversial logo, the club Chairman said the team management had taken into consideration concerns of fans and supporters in taking the decision.
The statement reads: “Plateau United Football Club management has witnessed with immense concern, fans’ reservations regarding the move to modify the club’s Official logo.
“Management is equally aware that fans hold a very important stake in club functions and representations.
“Hence, after due diligence and institutional consultations, the planned modification of Plateau United Football Club logo has been put on hold until the generality of stakeholders’ engagement is concluded.
“Management reaffirms that the planned logo modification is a path process in merchandising and commercial enhancement of the club’s image and global alignment with current trends.
“As part of plans to get the fans fully involved in the process of adopting a modified club logo, the club management will present three (3) designs for subsequent adoption of one by the generality of the football stakeholders including the fans.
“It is key to state that the old logo remains officially authentic at the moment pending the eventual adoption of a modified logo for our great club.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused as a result, amid renewed intent to put the generality of interests for our great club at heart in arriving at a binding decision.”
