    2nd Term Vacation: Commencement date approved

    Kano State Government has approved Thursday 28th March, 2024 as the date for the commencement of 2nd  term vacation to all Day and  Boarding Public/Private Primary and Post Primary Schools in the state, a statement from Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru, Director Public Enlightenment, Ministry of Education, Kano state has revealed.

    The statement then informed Parents/ Guardians of Pupils and Students in the Boarding schools to therefore  convey their wards home on Thursday 28th March, 2024.

    It further explained that Boarding Schools Pupils and Students are to resume back to their respective Schools for the third term on Sunday 21st April 2024 while the Day Students are to resume on Monday 22nd April 2024.

    The statement quoted the Commissioner of the ministry Alhaji  Umar Haruna Doguwa urging Parents/Guardians of Pupils and Students to ensure  total compliance with the approved resumption dates.

    Umar Doguwa further, warned that appropriate Disciplinary Action would be taken against defaulting Pupils/Students.

    He however thanked people in the state, especially parents for the cooperation and support giving to the ministry, and wished the Pupils/Students successful and hitch free holiday.

    I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
