The Katsina State Government has dispatched a high-powered delegation to the Kano State Ministry of Culture and Tourism to understudy its operations and exchange ideas on the establishment of the state’s newly created Culture and Reorientation Agency.

The visit is aimed at learning from Kano’s experience in the promotion of culture, tourism, and public reorientation, as well as identifying best practices that will guide the effective take-off and operation of the new agency in Katsina State.

The Special Adviser to Katsina state Governor, Alhaji Isah Muhammad Musa dropped this hints during the delegation’s visit to Kano state commissioner of ministry of culture and tourism, Hajia Aisha Lawan Saji Rano in her office.

According to him, visiting Kano became necessary due to its historical and cultural heritage dating back hundreds years ago.kt1

“This visit is not only symbolic but also a strategy to share and obtain valuable opportunity to strengthen institutional relationship as well as to foster collaboration in the area of cultural reorientation and development,” he explained.

The Special Adviser described Kano as a rich historical heritage that is vibrant in tradition and innovation in cultural preservation and promotion in the state and the country at large.

While expressing gratitude to Governor Malam Umaru Radda Dikko for his commitment and concerns on the historical heritage, culture and reorientation, he pledged to do his best to ensure the establishment of a vibrant agency in the state.

In her remarks, Kano state commissioner of culture and tourism, Hajia Aisha Lawan Saji Rano highlighted some of the achievements recorded under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in tourism and cultural heritage.

She said that the present administration had supported the ministry in various areas aimed at not only reviving the cultural heritage but also to create more innovations in order to achieve the desired objectives.

The commissioner pointed out that the state government is ready and willing to support any state seeking for partnership in cultural heritage and tourism towards the development of the state and the country.

Hajia Aisha Lawan Saji Rano commended the delegation for choosing Kano as a reference point.

She used the occasion to commend the state government for its contributions and support, assuring that all hands are on deck to ensure the state sustain its impressive outing in tourism and cultural heritage.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
