The Acting Chairman of Kano State Sports Commission, Malam Ibrahim Umar Fagge aka FIFA has been commended for his support towards the Safety and Security initiatives in Kano’s stadiums.

The commendation was made by Jamilu Uba Adamu, a Deputy Superintendent of Narcotics (DSN), on Thursday at the Sani Abacha Stadium after a Mini Workshop organized for the stadium staffers.

He thanks the Ag. Chairman for the opportunity given to him to contribute his quota to the prevention of any sad eventuality that may occur due to overcrowding in our stadiums.

Speaking during his presentation in  a lecture titled “Ensuring Safety and Security in Stadiums” Jamilu Uba  emphasized the crucial role of stadium stewards in maintaining safety and security.

He told those in attendance that the security and safety of lives and properties are all vested on you, so you must do everything necessary to do what is necessary to avert any danger that may occur.

The presenter also discussed the effective crowd management and access control which put more emphasis on controlling all the entry and exit points, and also monitoring crowd behavior.

He also stressed the importance of Identifying and Mitigating Potential Security Threats by being vigilant and prepared to respond to possible potential threats.

Officer Jamilu Uba then called for the collaboration between Stewards, Security Personnel, and Emergency Responders so as to ensure seamless communication and coordination among all stakeholders.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
