Malam Ahmed noted that NIPAMRIST is not only a significant milestone for the Ringo Sport Club – Nigeria, but for the promotion of the landscape of inter-agency relations and national sports development, adding that the tournament is a strategic vehicle for national cohesion that transcends physical fitness to foster esprit de corps and promote team work, peace and unity among Nigerian para-military establishments.

He emphasized the importance of adequate preparedness of the players and contingents to the tournament, noting the need for players of the agencies to adequately prepare for the tournament in order to perform well in the competition and emerge victorious to win the various categories of trophies, numerous prizes and medals at stake during the competition.

Mal Ahmed said the tournament is to test the skills, meticulousness and sportsmanship of the personnel who had earlier undergone an intensive training programme in ringo sport game, hoping that they will put to use all that they have learnt and acquired during the training programme for better competitive performance in the tournament.

About 120 players and officials drawn from personnel of 8 paramilitary agencies of the country are expected to participate in the 3-day event that is packed with actions, fun, socialization, networking and the interplay between sports and tourism.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
