    Welcoming KASPRECOM in Kano

    It was last Saturday afternoon that I got added to a group with the acronym KASPRECOM which means Kano Sports Presenters, Reporters and commentators group.

    One of the group admin who added me forwarded the Aims & Objectives of the group to me for perusal and publication.

    According to him, the group is organized to promote sports and give good reportage on all sporting activities happenings in the state.

    The group he continued is to advise sports administration on ways to move sports forward in Kano.

    The group, according to him, will organize seminars and workshops on sports presentation, reportage and promotion to update its members on how to bring their best in their reports and presentations.

    “The group is to partner with a similar group to develop sport in Kano and the country as a whole,” he concluded.

    I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
