It is a fact that the benefits of sports to the day-to-day duties of active Military And Paramilitary men and women are obvious and important.

Even with the blast of computerized training equipment, today’s  Paramilitary still require some level of fitness comparable to the foot soldiers to perfectly discharge their duties effectively.

That is why we see the agency’s participation in sports as necessary because it provides an avenue to keep their officers, men and women physically fit which will also make them equal to the dangerous and hectic tasks ahead of them.

Thus, sports can provide the NDLEA men and women the needed strength and stamina to be able to function with a cohesion needed during both peacetime and combat operations to douse the danger of drug barons.

That is why having discovered the many positive sides of sports to its men and women, the Commander of the Kano Command of the Nigeria Drugs Law Enforcement Agency created a sports unit for the command.

This is because the Commander sees it necessary and important for the command to provide its teeming officers and men with stamina, energy and fitness to work freely and effectively.

And to actualize this, the head of the agency had to look down within its staff armory to find the best brain who will perfectly head the unit for a maximum performance.

After thorough consultation and scrutiny, the Kano NDLEA Command discovered Officer Jamilu Uba Adamu as the best brain that the cap fits.

He is seen by the command as worthy and the best officer for the job because of his love, participation and unflinching commitment for sports not only in Kano state, the country but the world at large.

Adamu, a simple, well turned out, polished and professional officer is seen as highly competent for his new assignment because he came across as a self respecting professional and sports loving officer in a very spontaneous sort of way.

Jamilu who is Currently on the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Narcotics attended Tarauni Primary School between 1989 and 1893.

He was at the Tarauni Secondary School between 1994 and1996 and was also at the Kano Capital School and GSS Gwarzo respectively.

The new NDLEA sports head  also obtained a Diploma Certificate from Federal College of Education FCE Kano and has his Higher National Diploma HND from the Kano State Polytechnic.

Jamilu Uba Adamu also attended many sports seminars and workshops within and outside the state and also obtained many certificates from the lots of online sports course.

His sports  engagements in Kano’s sports has reinforced our initial and present impressions about him as an NDLEA officer whose love for sports never distracted him from carrying out his duties diligently.

The new NDLEA sports officer is one who is always considering others before himself. He is disciplined and has self control, one who has  the ability to face fear, danger, or hardship with physical and moral courage.

Born to a royal family of Dan Lawan Unkulo and a son to the late Dr Uba Adamu who was once Kantoman Kano, Jamilu Uba Adamu is todaay 42 years old.

He is a sports enthusiast; a team player with passion for the game of soccer. Adamu is currently a Nigeria Nationwide League (NNL) match Commissioner who was never found to be compromising his duties.

The new NDLEA sports head’s unflinching love for sports journalism is not hiding as he is a member of the Kano Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).

He is also a freelance writer with many sports articles to his credit and also an agent of positive sport drug free advocates and a content creator of sports.

He is a Deputy Chief Security officer of Kano Pillars FC security Committee, and also a member of Kano Pillars FC Fans club Election committee.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
