The Management of Kano Pillars FC, led by Chairman, Alhaji Ali Muhammad Umar aka Nayara Mai Samba Kurna, expresses heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of our 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League campaign.

In a statement, the chairman expressed gratitude to the Kano State Government, led by His Excellency Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the Hon. Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Hon. Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, for their unwavering support throughout the season.

According to him, his committee also expresses special gratitude to their principal sponsor, RAMBO Insecticide, whose ongoing partnership and generous support helped the club overcome the challenges of a demanding league season. “Your investment in the Sai Masu Gida remains invaluable,” he added.

“We are equally grateful to members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm, particularly the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kano State Chapter, for their tireless coverage, dedication, and professionalism in keeping our fans and supporters informed and inspired all season long,” Mai Samba stated.

Mai Samba further added that “We see you, feel you, and owe our loyal fans at home and around the country. Rain or shine, your unwavering dedication and enthusiastic support never wavered. Our accomplishments would not have been achieved without your voices in the stands and prayers from a distance.”

Despite a difficult start defined by late preparations and the late appointment of a technical consultant, Kano Pillars FC emerged as one of the season’s most intriguing teams, finishing ninth in the NPFL table with 53 points from 38 matches, a six-point increase over the previous campaign.

“We were also among the highest-scoring sides and distinguished ourselves with multiple away victories, a feat achieved by only a few clubs this season,” he explained.

Ali Nayara Mai Samba further added that as the curtains fall on 2024/2025, preparations for the new season have begun. “We are absolutely dedicated to developing a stronger group capable of not just competing for the NPFL title but also winning the FA Cup, ” he boasted.

He then explained that the recruitment process is ongoing, with strategic additions aimed at returning the club to the pinnacle of Nigerian football.

“With the continued support of the Kano State Government, the Honourable Commissioner, Hon. Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, our sponsors, the media, and our supporters, 2025/2026 will be a defining season for our dear club, Kano Pillars FC.

“We are determined to erase our faithful fans’ tears and give a season full of joy, trophies, and pride. We want to thank you all again. “The journey has only begun,” he concluded.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
