The chairman of Kano Pillars Football Club Interim Management Committee, Alhaji Babangida Little has appealed to the entire people of Kano state to pray for the team for its successes in the on-going NNL Super Eight Competition which is taking place in Asaba, Delta state.

The chairman made the call yesterday in a telephone chat with www.sportseye.com from Asaba, Delta state.

Little emphasized that even though the players are in a high spirit and top form, they still need prayers to excel and win all their matches.

“Our players are in top form and are ready to subdue any team that comes their way,” Alhaji Babangida Little explained.

Babangida Little then thanked the governor of Kano state, His Excellency Abba Kabir Yusif for his moral and financial support to the team.

“To show our gratitude and happiness to him and his administration, God willing we are going to do our best and return home victorious,” the chairman added.

It could be recalled that, Kano Pillars won its first match against EFCC 1-0 of the NNL opening match which was played this morning at the Stephen Keshi stadium, Asaba.

In another development Katsina United FC which is in the same group with Kano Pillars also won its first match.

Katsina United depeated DMO FC 2-1.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
