To avert the reoccurrence of the battered Salisu and late Sani Sadam incidence, members of the Wapa foreign currency exchange market have been warned to shun trading outside the vicinity of the Wapa area.

The chairman of the Wapa forex exchange market, Alhaji Sani Salisu Dada gave the warning in his office during an interview with www.sportseye.ng at his Layin Ibra Sabon Kudi office in Fagge.

According to him, the incident could have been prevented if the members of the association had listened to the continuous advice given to all of them on the need to avoid or stop such trade because of the danger associated with it.

“We have asked our members to stop taking money to hotels or any other places that are new to them because of the danger associated with such a move,” Sani Dada added.

The chairman commended the entire members of the Wapa community for their support and understanding and urged them to continue to be supportive and vigilant in transacting their business.

On the condition of Salisu who was kidnapped together with late Sani Sadam, the chairman said he is in the hospital and responding to treatment.

“After paying ransom, Salisu was released and we took him to the hospital and he is responding positively to treatment,” he explained.

On the situation of the market since his assumption as its chairman, Alhaji Sani Dada said things are going fine as his leadership is doing its possible best in improving the relationship of his members and security agencies.

“We have also within the timeframe resolved various crises between our members and their customers and sometimes within ourselves” the Wapa chairman explained.

It could be recalled that Salisu and late Sani Sadam were kidnapped some months ago, a situation which put tthe Wapa community is a state of worries and confution.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
