The North-west zonal office of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has sent a congratulatory message to the Kano Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf and his deputy Comrade Aminu Abdussalamu over their victory at the Supreme Court which reaffirmed their victory recently.

According to a copy of a congratulatory which was signed by Muhammad Mansour Ibrahim, the Vice President North of the association and addressed to the Kano state Commissioner of Information and also made available to this site, the North Zone SWAN leader believes that the supreme court verdict is the confirmation of the mandate given to them by the people of Kano state.

The zonal SWAN leader then urged the two victors to continue with their people oriented projects and programs to sustain the tempo which will improve the lives of the people of the state.

He urged them to focus on sports development in particular and security, education, commerce, rural development etc. in general to push the state ahead of others.

The zonal SWAN boss then called on the people of the state irrespective of their political affiliation to support the new government in order achieve what they want achieved for the state.

Mr. Ibrahim then wished on behalf of SWAN a fruitful tenure and a robust collaboration with the association in order to promote the issues of youth and sports development in the state and beyond.

“Please, accept our warmest sporting regards,” the National vice president of SWAN in charge of North-west concluded.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
