The International Council of Traditional Leaders of Hausawa and the Association of Hausawan Africa have endorsed the appointment of Comrade Ismaila Ammai Maizare, former Kano State Council Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, as Sarkin Labaran Hausawan Africa.

A statement signed by Sarkin Hausawan Africa, a seasoned educator, Dr. Abdulkadir Labaran Koguna, and made available to this site, informed the public of this development.

It further noted that Comrade Ismaila Ammai Maizare, a seasoned journalist and Professional Public Relations guru, has made important contributions to the growth of Hausa and its rich cultural heritage in Kano, Nigeria, and beyond.

According to the statement, this was one of the factors that contributed to his selection and appointment as the Sarkin Labaran Hausawan Africa.

Dr. Abdulkadir Labaran Koguna explained that a copy of the letter effecting this appointment had been sent for perusal to the Executive Governor of Kano State, the Kano State Emirate Council, the Chairman of Kano Municipal Local Government, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.

“The preparations toward the formal turbanning ceremony of Comrade Ismaila Ammai Maizare who now doubles as Ambassador of the Council of traditional leaders of Hausawan Duniya will come up in July 2025 in the state capital”, the statement added.

“While congratulating the newly appointed Sarkin Labaran Hausawa, the statement directed Maizare to continue working for peace and progress of the state and Nigeria,” it concluded.

Comrade Ismaila Ammai Maizare is the General Manager of Nasara Radio, Kano.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
