“I salute us all for putting a round peg in a round hole which will no doubt transform our business for the better.

“What is now left from all of us is to support the new leadership of the association to take us and our business to promising land,” he said.

“The new leadership should try and protect people’s interest, especially those who have been investing huge amounts of money by making sure that their money is well protected and preserved from bad members.

“People who collect and destroy people’s wealth should be made or forced to pay back all the money they squandered,” Naziru explained.

He lastly called on the newly elected leaders to have confidence in themselves, carry everybody along and work with no fear and mercy.

“The Alhaji Sani led executive should be fair in dealing with all members and lead with fairness to all,” Naziru Wapa concluded.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
