Last Saturday, while on my way to IBB Way from Wapa, I was opportune to see Alhaji Sani Salisu Dada, the newly elected chairman of the Al’amanat Bureau De Change coming out from his office to join a congregation of a nearby mosque to say or observe his Asar Prayer.
Having not said my Asar prayer too, I quickly performed my ablution and joined them and by the time he finished saying his prayers, he returned to his office and after a while I joined him and sat very close to him.
After exchanging pleasantries, I congratulated him on his recent victory in the Wapa polls and then introduced myself to him as a brother and an online publisher. Sani Dada or mighty Igo as he is fondly called by Wapa people welcomed me and asked about my mission.
I explained to him that ever since his inauguration as the new chairman of Wapa Al’amanat Bureau De Change, I have been trying to see him and have some chat with him so that my readers will know more about him and his mission and vision for the entire Wapa community.
He welcomed me again and simply told me to go ahead and ask what I wanted to know.
I thanked him and my first question to him was I want him to tell my readers who is Alhajii Sani Salisu Dada?
His answer was, thank you, I am Sani Salisu Dada and I was born in the year 1980 in Fagge D2 of Fagge local government area of Kano state.
I started my primary education in Kuka Primary School in 1987 which six years later I got admission into Kuka Secondary School for my secondary education.
I was at the formerly College of Art and Science (CAS), Kano which is now Kano State College of Education and Preliminary Kano twice.
My first stint was in the year 1999 for my IJMB while the second one was for a Diploma programme in 2003.
After successful completion of a Diploma program, I secured admission into Bayero University, Kano for My Bsc 2003 and I graduated 2006.
I did my mandatory National Youth Service Corps in Lokoja, Kogi state at the Muslim Community School between 2007 to 2008.
After my NYSC program I returned home and continued with what I have been practicing (forex trading) for long.
I used the knowledge acquired in the schools I attended and developed and expanded my forex trading.
So when I developed interest in joining Wapa politics, I contested to be the chairman of Al’amanat Bureau De Change three times without success.
But I thank Allah (SWT) this time around I won election despite the gang-up and all the tricks used to subdued me.
Now that you are the chairman, how do you see the Association?
Since I and my team were sworn-in to lead the association for the next three years, we have gone through some of the handover notes and we are yet to see any discrepancies in what we collected but there are more things to be done.
What do you mean more things to be done?
We are going to transform the association for the better. We are going to put so many things in order. We will take our members closer to the government and its agencies that matter so that they can benefit from its programs.
We are going to be law abiding and also encourage our members to be law abiding too.
On the issue of highhandedness among Wapa forex traders
I don’t want to believe so, but in any society you can get good and bad ones and our association can not be exempted. People can be trusted and entrusted with people’s money but in the end failed to deliver.
And that does not mean all our people are the same or bad. We have a lot of people who are trustworthy who can not do that.
Chairman thank you very much Allah ya kara daukaka
I thank you too. Nagode
