    Doma United FC CEO bags award for promoting Grassroots football

    The Chief Executive Officer of Doma United Football Club, Alhaji Suleiman Umar, popularly known as Mai Doma, has been honoured with an Appreciation Award for Grassroots Development in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the promotion and advancement of grassroots football in Gombe State.

    The award acknowledges his dedication to nurturing young talents, supporting football development initiatives, and creating opportunities for aspiring players to excel in the sport.

    Under his leadership, Doma United has continued to make significant strides in football development, providing a platform for young athletes to progress and achieve their dreams.

    Speaking after receiving the award, the CEO expressed gratitude to the organizers and dedicated the recognition to the club’s management, coaching staff, players, supporters, and all stakeholders who have contributed to the advancement of grassroots football.

    “This award serves as motivation to continue investing in the development of young talents and strengthening the foundation of football in our communities,” he said.

    The recognition further highlights Doma United’s growing reputation as a club committed to football development both on and off the pitch.

    I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
