The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has officially selected five distinguished Nigerian football coaches, including Magistrate Ibrahim Gwadabe, the highly respected chairman of the Kano State Football Coaches Association, to participate in the culminating module of the prestigious FIFA Coach Educator course.

This final and fifth module of the program is scheduled to take place in Kigali, Rwanda, in March 2026, and represents the pinnacle of a comprehensive training initiative designed to elevate coaching standards worldwide.

The course is meticulously structured to equip coaches with cutting-edge skills, modern training methodologies, and globally recognized best practices in football development.

The inclusion of Nigerian coaches in this elite program underscores FIFA’s recognition of the talent, expertise, and dedication present within Nigeria’s coaching fraternity.

It also signals a growing acknowledgment of Nigeria’s potential to contribute meaningfully to international football development.

By participating in this program, the selected coaches are expected to gain invaluable insights and knowledge that will directly translate into improved coaching standards across Nigerian football.

This, in turn, will positively impact the development of players, the performance of clubs, and the overall growth of the nation’s football ecosystem, fostering a stronger foundation for future generations of Nigerian football talent.

Magistrate Ibrahim Gwadabe’s involvement not only brings personal prestige but also serves as an inspiration to aspiring coaches across Kano State and the nation, demonstrating that dedication, professionalism, and a commitment to continuous learning can open doors to global opportunities in the world of football.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
