    Dala Hard Courts Director elected VP, Nigeria Tennis Federation

    The Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) has elected the Director Tournament of Kano Dala Hard Courts Tennis championship, Alhaji Yusuf Datti as its Vice President for the next four years.

    Datti who had earlier elected as the Northwest Zonal  representative to the board of the federation under the supervision of the National Sports Commission NSC which took place in Kaduna last September.

    The Vice President was elected alongside the former Speaker of Delta state Assembly. Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei as the president were won in a landslide victory in the election conducted at Package B of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja last Saturday.

    Yusuf Datti who doubles as the current Registrar of  Khalifah Isyaku Rabiu University KHAIRUN garnered 12 put of the 14 votes to won Vice President while Victor Ochei pulled 11 to emerge as NTF President.

    Reacting to the outcome of the election, the newly Vice President expressed his appreciation  to the members for the trust reposed on them to lead  Nigeria’s vibrant sports federations.

    Yusuf Datti however, applauded the chairman of the National Sports Commission NSC, Alhaji Shehu Dikko and his Director General Mt. Olapade for their commitment towards the overall development of various sporting events across the country.

    The vice President then called on the multiple corporate organizations, wealthy individuals and politicians to partner with the federation aimed at development of the game in the country.

    Yusuf Datti also commended President Bola Ahmad Tinubu for his commitment and concerns towards the upliftment of various sporting activities countrywide.

    I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
