The maiden edition of the NDLEA Chairman’s Cup came to a thrilling end last Saturday, as the KMC Team clinched a well-deserved victory with a narrow 1–0 win over the determined MAKIA Team.
The tightly contested match kept spectators on edge from start to finish, with both sides displaying impressive skill, teamwork, and resilience.
In the end, KMC’s decisive lone goal proved enough to secure the championship and etch their name in the history of the competition’s very first edition.
According to the PRO/M&A of the Kano NDLEA Strategic Command, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, the final, played at the FAAN Club Arena, showcased impressive skill and determination from both sides.
The deadlock was finally broken in stoppage time when Lafadden Mohd capitalized on a defensive error, giving KMC the decisive lead.
This successful first edition of the Chairman’s Cup is largely attributed to the commitment and innovation of the Officer-in-Charge of Sports, NDLEA Kano Strategic Command, Uba Muhammad Jamilu DSN.
His vision, coordination, and passion for youth and staff engagement through sports made the tournament a reality. Uba’s initiative to launch the Chairman’s Cup has now created a new platform that fosters unity, strengthens teamwork, and encourages healthy competition among personnel across formations.
The final match drew an impressive line-up of distinguished guests, including ACGN AI Ahmad, Deputy Director DAFI, CN DY Lawal, Kano Strategic Commander, DCN Ali Adamu, Deputy Commander, Kano Strategic Command, and several senior NDLEA officials.
Also present were key sports personalities such as Mr. Ibrahim Umar, Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, and Dr. Sharif Rabiu Ahlan, Chairman of the Kano State Football Association, who commended the Command for its commitment to sports development.
At the end of the event, awards and recognitions were presented to notable contributors, including ACGN A.I. Abubakar, CN DY Lawal, CN Ahmed Ramat Muhammad, Mr. Ibrahim Umar, Dr. Sharif Rabiu Ahlan, and representatives of supporting organizations such as A2Z Concept and Multimedia Services Limited, Mazaje Trado Sports, and A.M.A Sports.
