Eight emirate football teams have secured places in the quarter-finals of the ongoing Gombe Emir’s Cup Soccer Competition following the successful conclusion of the preliminary stage held across the three designated centres of Bajoga, Billiri, and Deba.
The teams earned their quarter-final berths after impressive performances in the preliminary matches, which attracted football enthusiasts from across the state.

The competition continues to showcase emerging talents while promoting unity, sportsmanship, and healthy rivalry among participating emirates.
The tournament, organised by the GWG Sports Centre under the leadership of its Chief Executive Officer, Alhaji Ahmed Shuaibu Gara, was aims at developing, promoting and uniting various ethnics’ community through football tournament in the state.
At the Bajoga Centre, Gombe Emirate Council finished top of the group with seven points, recording two wins and one draw, while Tula Traditional Council secured second position with six points and Nafada Emirate Council placed third with four points and progressed as one of the best losers.
In the Billiri Centre, Late Shehu Abubakar Team and Funakaye Emirate Council both finishing on seven points each respectively.
The Deba Centre, saw Pindiga Emirate Council topped the group with five points after an unbeaten run., Dukku Emirate Council finished second with four points, while Dadiya Traditional Council, also have four points,to advance as a best loser.
Meanwhile, the quarter finalss fixture released shown that Gombe emirate will lock horns with it’ Funakaye counterpart, late SHEHU Abubakar versus Tula, Pindiga will host Nafada and Dukku will entertain Dadiya l Traditional team.
