For sure, Barrister Sani Ammani, Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Kano Branch, has every reason to be a happy man.

The NBA Kano Branch Chairman is celebrating not only his recent victory at the Kano State NBA elections but also a remarkable sporting achievement by the branch during his tenure, as the Kano team won the NBA President’s Cup for the first time since the competition was introduced in 2021.B2

It was a memorable outing for the Kano team, which produced an impressive performance throughout the competition before eventually lifting the coveted trophy.

Kano NBA secured their place in the final after defeating the Port Harcourt team in the semi-final. They then faced the formidable Lagos team in the final, where they displayed determination and resilience to emerge victorious with another 2-1 win.

The triumph represents a significant milestone for NBA Kano, as the branch had never won the President’s Cup since the competition began in 2021.

What makes the achievement even more remarkable is that it came during the tenure of Barrister Sani Ammani, giving him a double reason to celebrate.

While his personal victory at the Kano State NBA polls reaffirmed the confidence of his colleagues in his leadership, the success of the branch’s football team has added another memorable chapter to his tenure.

The victory also highlights the importance of sports in promoting unity, friendship and healthy competition among members of the legal profession.

Beyond the trophy, the tournament provided lawyers from different branches with an opportunity to interact outside the courtroom and strengthen professional relationships.

For Kano NBA, the 2-1 victory over Lagos will undoubtedly go down as one of the branch’s notable sporting achievements.

The team’s performance from the semi-final through to the final demonstrated character, teamwork and a strong desire to make history.

Having waited since the competition’s inception in 2021, Kano finally broke the jinx and secured the President’s Cup for the first time.

It was, therefore, a double celebration for Barrister Sani Ammani and the entire NBA Kano family.

Congratulations to Barrister Sani Ammani, the players, officials and the entire Nigerian Bar Association, Kano Branch, on this historic achievement.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
