This year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria (CIPPON) is scheduled to take place in Kano State, widely regarded as the Centre of Commerce.

According to a letter signed by Koko T. Clement, the President and Chairman in Council of the Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria, and addressed to Malam Lukman Muhammad, Head of the Printing Technology Department, the AGM will hold from 10th to 11th December 2025.

The theme for the 2025 AGM is “Building Resilience in the Printing Industry: Collaboration, Innovation, and Excellence.” This theme strongly aligns with the mission and objectives of the Printing Technology Department.

Members of the institute from within and outside Kano State are expected to participate in this important gathering. Their wealth of expertise and experience is anticipated to enrich the discussions, contribute to meaningful deliberations, and help shape the industry’s future direction.

Students from the Department of Printing Technology, as well as those from nearby institutions, are also encouraged to attend. The AGM will provide them with a valuable opportunity to learn directly from industry professionals, expand their networks, and gain exposure to current trends and emerging developments in the printing sector.

Overall, the 2025 AGM promises to be a landmark event—bringing together key stakeholders, policymakers, and practitioners to examine the challenges and opportunities facing Nigeria’s printing industry and to chart a progressive path forward.

Shedding more light on the development, Malam Lukman Muhammad revealed that the meeting which is the first ever to be hosted in Kano will take place at the Professor Hafiz Abubakar Hall, School of Technology Annex, Kano State Polytechnic, Matan Fada Road, Kano.

He urged all stakeholders to turn out in large numbers and actively participate, stressing that their presence, contributions, and collective commitment are essential to making the meeting a resounding success.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
