    Hajia Asabe: A patriotic politician

Hajia Asabe is not a neophyte on the political territory of Yobe state as she not only distinguished herself, but has proved beyond reasonable doubt that she is an asset to her state and the country as a whole.

A staunch Fulani APC member in Yobe state, Hajia Asabe is a brilliant woman trader, community leader and patriotic politician.

She left no one in doubt about her commitment to better the lives of women in her locality, a noble desire that made her to be the coordinator of the APC Woman Movement (AYWM) in Yobe state.

She is a shining example of a noble woman destined for greatness which made her to be a great woman with a humanitarian heart.

Her desire to serve her people especially women and children led her to join Human Rights and Women and Children protection groups in Yobe state.

Asabe’s being in Yobe state politics in particular and the country at large made her to flow an endless milk of kindness and compassion for women and the less privileged in the society.

This made her to quickly learn the ropes and soon became the toast of her community as she lived to the expectation and also moved with a great sense of commitment and determination to uplift the living standard of women and children in Yobe state.

Her rise to political prominence and relevance is predicated on a strong ideological principle which catapulted her to the top echelon of political arena in Yobe state.

The love and confidence the women in Yobe state reposed on her throughout the 17 local governments of the state were translated into the recent landslide victory for the reelection of His Excellency Mai Mala Buni, CON, the  Chiroman Gujba , Walin Damaturu and Baradain Fika as the Yobe state governor in the last concluded General Election which made him  easily win back his second ticket.

Since the birth of her women organization, the APC Woman Movement (AYWM) in Yobe state, the association has done a lot especially in organizing one-by-one campaigns, a house-to-house campaign, women awareness meetings and lots more throughout the state all for APCs Mai Mala Buni to win reelection for the second term.

And that was why she led a massive campaign for the participation of women in that election victory of APC throughout Yobe state.

Hajia Asabe’s efforts were the contributory factor for the APC victory in the governorship election, which also made the party win a majority of House of Assembly seats, House of Reps seats and even that of Senators.

Hajia Asabe and her members are very happy and satisfied with the government of Mai Mala Buni for its assistance to women especially pregnant and children.

They are also pleased with the governor’s gesture for the empowerment of women, especially the less privileged ones with skills acquisition and money to fund their businesses.

The women in Yobe are also happy with the Mai Mala Buni’s regular monetary assistance to the orphans and widows for their upkeep.

They are also grateful to the governor for allowing a woman to occupy the local government chairmanship seat for the first time in the state.

Hajia Asabe’s movement is also happy with the governor for allowing two women to be elected to serve in the 10th National Assembly.

In fact, women in Yobe  are  overjoyed with the Mai Mala Buni administration for giving some women the chance to serve in the positions of SAs and that of SSAs in his administration.

That is why the women in Yobe under the tutelage of Hajia Asabe can never forget His Excellency Mai Mala Buni, CON and are ready to support and assist him anytime any day.

Born in Damaturu to the family of Alhaji Abdullahi in Damaturu Local government area of Yobe state, Hajia Asabe started her primary education and secondary schools in Damaturu and further her studies where she bagged a Diploma in Higher Islamic Studies all in Yobe state.

Before her entry into the political terrain of Yobe state, Hajia Asabe gave a good account of herself as a successful trader and entrepreneur. She was into buying and selling assorted goods from Kano, neighboring states and sometimes to states in the coastal areas.

Hajia Asabe is highly compassionate and humane which made her to institute various programs for the women and less privileged ones in the society.

By dint of hard work and love for women and children throughout the state, she became a popular leader of women and women groups in her area and Yobe state in general.

A great lover of Girl-child education and entrepreneurship, Hajia Asabe is offering educational and entrepreneurship assistance to the needy in her society and beyond.

A dynamic woman with strong leadership qualities, Hajia Asabe was the leader of many women groups in Yobe, a prefect and head girl while in schools some decades ago.

She enjoys reading and reaching out to the needy.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
