The former head coach of National basketball team and Team Manager of Kano Pillars basketball, Coach Sani Ahmad has dedicated their victory  against City Chiefs of Abuja in the ongoing Nigerian Premier league basketball second phase to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf .

The tournament, was organized by the Nigerian Basketball Federation NBBF Premier league basketball second phase currently taking place in two centre Minna and Enugu state.

He said that Kano Pillars had won four of it’s matches so far in the league against Bauchi Nets, Gombe Bull, Niger Potters and City Chiefs of Abuja which he described as sign of mak8ng it to the final 8 scheduled to hold later in the year.

The Team Manager further explained that despite the financial challenge facing the team, the players put that behind to continue projecting the good image of present administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as far as sports was concerned in the country.

He appealed to the state government as a matter of urgency, to bail out Kano Pillars from its current predicament in order to achieve it set objectives.

While commending the players for their commitment and sacrifice, he urged them to sustain the tempo and remain focus with a view to emerge the overall winners at the end of the tournament.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
