To celebrate governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s recent well-deserved victory at the supreme court, the Special Reporter of the governor of Kano state, Malam Muhammad Wasilu Kawo has organized a football competition for that effect.

The competition which is tagged Governor Abba Zama Daram Cup is to be competed among all the 44 Local Governments of the state.

According to Wasilu Kawo, the organizer of the competition, Governor Abba Zama Daram Cup is to be kick-started in the month of February and will end in 30 days after its commencement.

Kawo then revealed that because of the time constraint, the competition will be played on a knockout basis.

He then revealed that the draws of the competition show that Gwale Local Government, which is the governor’s local government will tackle its Kumbotso counterpart in the opening match which will be decided at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

The Special Reporter further stated that all the remaining matches of the competition except its finals which will be played at the same Sani Abacha Stadium will be decided at Kano Pillars Stadium.

Muhammad Wasilu Kawo then hinted that about N5 million is to be expended and participating teams especially those that show class will be rewarded with cash gifts and souvenirs.

On how he is going to source funds to run the competition, Kawo revealed that he has contacted Governor Abba’s supporters and well-wishers like Muhiyi Magaji and all other personalities which will make their names public at good times.

He lastly called on others to come and join hands with him to make a hitch free competition.
