Hours to the kick-off of the much awaited Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf soccer competition which was tagged: Gov Abba Zama Daram Cup, the organizers have announced its postponement.

According to the chairman organizing committee of the competition who is also the governor’s Special Reporter, Malam Muhammad Wasilu Kawo, the postponement was not unconnected with the busy nature of the two stadiums where the competition was billed to take-off.

Kawo then hinted that the management of the Kano State Sports Commission had tendered their apology for the unplanned disappointment and asked him to take another day instead.

The chairman of the organizing committee further told this site that they are going to think of another suitable date which will be communicated to the commission and the participating teams.

It could be recalled that Gov Abba Zama Daram Cup was organized to celebrate the governor’s victory at the supreme court last month.

I was at the production unit of the Triumph Publishing Company, Kano but my keen interest in sports journalism made me to be sports writer and maintained a sports column called (Sports Eye) after my mentor Sani Muhammad Zaria transferred his service to New Nigeria newspapers in Kaduna. And when the government closed the Triumph in 2012, I was transfered to lectured DTP in the Department of Printing Technology of Kano State Polytechnic. And now that I retired, i used to visit the institution weekends for part-time lecturing.
