Hundreds of people, including members of royal families, media and marketing executives, relatives, friends, and well-wishers, on Saturday morning thronged the Kankarofi quarters in Kano Municipality to witness the wedding Fatiha of the daughter of former Kano Pillars Football Club chairman, Alhaji Garba Kankarofi.

The colourful ceremony drew a large turnout as guests from different walks of life gathered to celebrate the solemnization, which was marked by prayers, goodwill messages, and expressions of joy.

The event reflected the social prominence of the Kankarofi family and the wide circle of relationships built over years of public service and engagement in sports administration.

Kankarofi, former Managing Director of Radio Kano, was visibly filled with joy and happiness as he welcomed guests who came to grace the wedding Fatiha of his daughter, ASP Halima Garba Bello, and her groom, Engineer Muhammad Nuraddeen Umar.

The ceremony attracted family members, friends, associates, and well-wishers, including former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Ismaila Ammai Maizare, who gathered to celebrate the union in a warm and festive atmosphere.

The event was marked by prayers, goodwill messages, and heartfelt congratulatory wishes for the couple.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
