Pillars in trouble: Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf must hear this

It is a fact that Kano Pillars Football Club has never found it so well financially and administratively in recent times than now which resulted to its magnificent and superlative performance in the on-going National Premier Football League.

Before now the team was characterized with poor funding as the previous management was always crying of shortage of funds but the story is different now as Ali Nayara Mai Samba led management had never even for once cried for funds.

Unlike last season where the team was cash-starved, the team now under Ali Nayara Mai Samba is now financially buoyant as Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf through his commissioner of sports; Hon. Mustapha Kwankwaso is making needed funds available to the team.

Similarly, peace has also returned to the team ever since the present management took over for the last management as the management are at peace with one another.

The only problem which is seriously impeding the progress of the team according to our findings is the transportation problem.

The team’s transport unit is in need of His Excellency’s attention and gesture because the management is finding it very difficult to transport its players, officials and management to their away engagements.

To most of us, this makes it easier or a contributing factor of the club’s feat or superlative show in the league.

But despite that my finding has indicated that, the only untold hardship he Ali Nayara led management is facing is transporting the team to its away engagements. And this is because of the old and faulty vehicles in the club yard.

Our investigation revealed that the team presently has only two serviceable vehicles (one bus for players and the other for technical crew) which often spoil or break down halfway or otherwise anytime they are on their trip to or back home.

The other vehicle for the team’s management has since been knocked down and is now in the garage for possible repairs.

At present, the poor condition of these vehicles is the greatest problem of the Ali Nayara led management team which is causing them sleepless nights anytime the team is on transit to honor away matches or returning after the matches.

Our investigation further revealed that, hardly the team went for its away match without one or all the two vehicles being stopped on the way which used to force the management to hire another vehicle to continue the trip or take the players back home.

Our findings then added that the breakage of the vehicles no doubt used to have a negative effect on the players because it used to inculcate fears on them which intimately killed their morale during matches.

The other factors according to our investigation is stress and fatigue on the part of the players.

Our investigation further revealed that it is the old situation of the vehicle the club is using that used to prolong their trip as a 12Hrs  trip used to take them 18 and sometimes 20Hrs because the vehicles are tired.

Contacted via a GSM call to comment on the situation, the chairman of the club, Ali Nayara Mai Samba  commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf  and Commissioner Mustapha Kwankwaso for unwavering support to the team.

Mai Samba has confirmed that Kano Pillars FC is now free from cash-staving as since he resumed as the club chairman, the governor and the commissioner are supportive to the team.

On transportation problems, the chairman confirmed having challenges transporting the team to their away matches, but assured that the government will soon know their plight and come to their aid.

“By the time the government sees our request, I am sure very soon our transportation problem will be over,” Mai Samba concluded.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
