The Kano State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), CN Ahmad Idris Abubakar, last Thursday launched the school-based sensitization program tagged “War against Drug Abuse (WADA)”.
The program according to ASN SM Maigatari, the PRO/M&A, NDLEA, Kano State Command was held at the premises of the FAAN Staff Secondary School, Kano where the commander sensitized students and staff on the dangers of drug abuse, emphasizing the importance of “catching them young.”
To make the event engaging and interactive, a Tug of War game was organized for both male and female students.
The commander further visited Army Day Girls Secondary School, where he delivered the same sensitization lecture, followed by a basketball game among the students.
CN Abubakar was at the Rochas Foundation College, where another sensitization program was held and a football match.
To test the students’ knowledge and retention, quiz competitions were conducted in each school where the winners received prizes sponsored and donated by Gongoni Company Limited.
“This initiative is part of the State Commander’s efforts to fight and eradicate drug abuse among young people, using innovative approaches like sports and education,” NDLEA PRO added.
By partnering with schools and engaging students in interactive activities, the NDLEA aims to build a stronger, healthier community.
The Kano NDLEA Officer in charge of sports, DNS Jamilu Uba Mohammad was at the center of all the events by making sure that all the three respective events at the three schools went peacefully according to plans.
