Faulty, unreliable vehicles: Kano Pillars need Governor Abba’s assistance

Every football supporter or stakeholder in Kano state is blissful and completely at rest about the consideration and concern Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is showing to Kano Pillars Football Club through his limitless and ideal endorsements of most requests the club’s management laid before him for approval.

Ali Nayara Mai Samba, the chairman of the club management team recently made the divulgence as of late that the club is presently light monetarily and liberated from need or lack of funds.

Before now, the past management of the club was continuously sobbing for lack of funds which made them to be vigorously obliged however the story is different now as Ali Nayara Mai Samba led board had never at any point for once wept for funds.

Mai Samba told the whole world that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf through his commissioner of sports; Hon. Mustapha Kwankwaso has been releasing all the needed funds the team requested.

He was honest to say it out loud that Kano Pillars Football Club has never had it so well financially in recent times than now.

That explained why every stakeholder or supporter of the club is happy with the way the team is getting the attention it deserves from the Abba Kabir Yusuf led government.

Even the players, officials and even the management of Sai Masu Gida are happy and doing their best to justify what the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is doing to them.

If not for some few instances of bad officiating from some match officials during some of their away engagements, the performance of the team in the on-going league is fair and commendable.

More so, His Excellency needs to know that with the appointment of Mai Samba and his team peace has relatively returned to the team as both players, officials and the management are at peace with one another.

Sir, the only problem which is seriously impeding the progress and causing havoc to the team presently is the transportation problem.

Your Excellency sir, I am sure you are aware about the importance of a good and excellent transport unit for every football team especially here in Nigeria.

Sir, Kano Pillars Football Club is not having a good transportation unit with good and serviceable vehicles.

All they have are a series of old, faulty and unreliable vehicles which develop problems and break down anytime while on the road.

Sir, to be honest, this is a serious matter which needs serious attention because the absence of good and serviceable vehicles is seriously affecting the club.

What they have now left, are the collections of old, tired, bad and dilapidated vehicles which the team is using to transport their players, officials and management to their away matches.

Sir, seriously speaking, there is a need for new road worthy buses because of the poor nature of the roads in the country.

Those vehicles the players, officials and the management always used for their away matches are death traps as they are always faulty.

They hardly go a few kilometers or far distances without developing one or another problem which is dangerous to the lives of the players, officials and the management.

Besides that, the security situation of the country is yet another factor to put into consideration and avoid any unfortunate situation.

At most times the vehicles used to break down in odd places and sometimes in odd times which used to cause worries and fears among the players, officials and the management.

With these, I want to bring to the notice of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf Kano state through Honorable commissioner Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso that the buses and other vehicles the team is using are all in shambles.

They need to be replaced as the management of the club is facing an untold hardship transporting its players, officials and management to their away engagements.

Sir, it is a common knowledge that a team or the players can never bring their best by playing well under such a horrible situation because hardly they went to their playing point without one or the other problem.

The players and accompanying officials are always traumatized by the security situation anytime any of their bus(es) develops any problem on their way to their match venue or on their way back home.

My investigation revealed that the team presently has only two vehicles (one bus for players and the other for technical crew) which often spoil or break down halfway or otherwise anytime they are on their trip to or back home.

The other vehicle for the team’s management has since been knocked down and is now in the garage awaiting replacement.

And another bus was involved in an accident some months ago while conveying Junior Pillars FC to Jos the capital of Plateau state for a match also needing to be replaced.

Sir, presently, the poor condition of these vehicles is the greatest problem of the Ali Nayara led management team which is causing the team sleepless nights anytime the team is on transit to honor away matches or returning after the matches.

I was made to understand that, hardly the team went for its away match without one or all the two vehicles the team is presently using being stopped on the way which used to force the management to hire commercial vehicles (too bad) to continue the trip or take the players back home.

Your Excellency, the breakage of the vehicle(s) no doubt used to have a negative effect on the players and officials because it used to instill fears in their minds and also killed their morale because anything can happen especially in this security challenge period.

It also used to bring a lot of stress and fatigue on the part of the players which affected their performance during matches.

His Excellency must know that the old nature of Kano Pillars FC vehicles used to prolong their trip as a 12Hrs trip used to take them 18 and sometimes 20Hrs to reach their destination.

Contacted via a GSM call to comment on the situation, the chairman of the club, Ali Nayara Mai Samba commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Commissioner Mustapha Kwankwaso for their unwavering support to the team.

Mai Samba has confirmed that Kano Pillars FC is no more cash-staving as since he resumed as the club chairman, the governor and the commissioner are supportive of the team financially.

On transportation problems, the chairman confirmed having challenges transporting the team to their away matches, but assured that the government will soon know their plight and come to their aid.

“By the time the government sees our request, I am sure very soon our transportation problem will be over,” Mai Samba concluded.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
