The late Galadima was proudly remembered by stakeholders, particularly in Kano and the northern region, if not throughout the entire nation.

His tour encouraged younger administrators and sports fans, and many regard him as a symbol of commitment to the growth of national sports.

In the final analysis, opinions may differ, but there is a shared acknowledgment: Ibrahim Galadima’s imprint on Nigerian sports is undeniable.

Whether viewed through the lens of achievement or critique, his story remains an essential chapter in the evolving narrative of football administration in Nigeria.

To gain deeper insight into his life and legacy, this platform reached out to stakeholders across the sports community to share their perspectives on how they viewed him and what his passing means for the future of Nigerian sports.

Galadima’s outstanding and enduring legacy stands out as a model of excellence and unwavering integrity.

His visionary leadership and selfless service left an indelible mark on the development of sports in both Kano and the nation.

Indeed, any meaningful account of the history of Nigerian sports will be incomplete without recognizing his immense and lasting contributions.

Muhammad Sani Toro, former Secretary-General of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), Yariman ToroSani Toro

Muhammad Sani Toro offered heartfelt prayers, asking Allah to grant Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima Aljannatul Firdaus, in recognition of his lifelong service, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the growth of Nigerian football.

He described him as a man whose character, discipline, and contributions left a lasting mark on the sports community and beyond.

He further expressed profound appreciation to all those who attended the funeral, noting that their presence was a powerful show of respect and love for the late statesman.

He acknowledged the support, prayers, and solidarity extended to the family, emphasizing that such gestures provide comfort and strength during a time of deep loss and reflection.

The memory of the late Ibrahim Galadima will endure among those who crossed paths with him, especially for those of us who saw him not just as a father figure, but as a true role model.

I vividly recall his encouragement when I approached him to write the introduction to my book, “Takaitaccen Tarihin Asalin Wasan Kwallon Kafa a Kano.” He accepted without hesitation and fulfilled the request with remarkable ease. Allah ubangiji ya gafarta masa. Amin.

Jamilu Abdulhamid Bello, Secretary General, Kano State Higher Institutions Games Association (KASHIGA).Jamilu KASHEGA

The Passing of Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima  is  a great lost to Nigeria not only Kano or Fagge local government because he is genuinely a leader with due process, respect and time conscious.

We benefits from him with words of encouragement and support and finally he use to honoured our invitation. It’s really great lost.

May almighty forgive him and give him Al Jannatul Firdausi.

Ismaila Ammai Maizare, former NUJ Chairman, Majidadin Sarkin Shanun Kano, Sarkin Labaran Hauswan Africaammai

Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima was a devoted son of Kano State in particular and Nigeria in general. He was a patriotic gentleman and public administrator who committed his life to service, growth, and national development.

Widely regarded for his integrity and sense of duty, he distinguished himself as a leader who rose above ethnic or sectional sentiments, earning respect as a non-tribal public figure.

Throughout his public life, he was known for his calm leadership style, discipline, and willingness to support initiatives aimed at advancing sports and community development.

His contributions left a lasting impression on those who worked with him and those who benefited from his guidance.

Allah ya gafarta masa, ya kuma saka masa da Al-Jannatul Firdaus.

Dr Nura Garba Sabonsara, Head of Digital Media, Bayero University, KanoSabon sara

For me, late Ibrahim Galadima stands out as the most prominent and widely respected sports administrator ever produced by Kano State.

Beyond serving as President of the Nigeria Football Association and contributing to several committees of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, he was known for his exceptional professionalism and dedication to sports development.

He also chaired the committee responsible for the revival of Nigeria’s national sports policy under the administration of Muhammadu Buhari.

His legacy remains unparalleled, and it is difficult to identify any sports administrator from Kano State who has matched his impact and influence.

Shehu Adamu, Assistant Director News, NTA Kano, Former Kano Pillars FC Media Officer,  Former Member Kano State Football Association (K.S.F.A)Shehu NTA

Late Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima was a respected figure known for his honesty and integrity in both public service and sports administration.

He was also admired for his punctuality, consistently honouring invitations and commitments with a strong sense of discipline.

As a seasoned sports technocrat, he played a significant role in the development and management of sports in Nigeria.

Muhammad Danyaro, Retired PS and former Secretary Kano Pillars Continental Committee Danyaro

Ibrahim Galadima was more than a sports administrator. He was a revered community leader and influential elder in the state, and a silent philanthropist.

He held so many positions in sports, not only in Kano State but in the whole country, in addition to other continental assignments.

I served as a Secretary of the Kano Pillars continental committee, where he was the chairman, and having worked with him at close range, I testify that he was a man of unimpeachable character, a fine administrator, and a selfless workaholic who always put his best into whatever he was doing.

During Kano Pillars’ participation in the African Club Championship, he exhibited selfless character and an incorruptible disposition, with a high sense of integrity.

I recall two incidents in which Ibrahim Galadima used his personal funds in the course of our assignment, and when I attempted to refund him huge sums of money, he declined.

Also, many people do not know that after the first round of the continental competition featuring Kano Pillars and others, we saved between ₦18m–₦20m for the government, and we returned it to the government’s coffers.

Due to his high sense of prudence, accountability, and honesty, the 11-man continental committee members gave him 100% support and did not raise any objection to most of his decisions.

For me and many others, he was a role model, a father figure, a man best known for integrity, diligence, and service to the state and the nation.

May Allah grant him eternal rest and Jannatul Firdaus!

Abdulgafar Oladimeji, journalist and former Kano SWAN ScribeAbdulgaffar

Late Dr. Ibrahim Galadima was an astute statesman, a quintessential sports administrator, and a respected football technocrat.

One defining quality that remained undisputed throughout his lifetime and endures even today, was his integrity.

His commitment to sports development was genuine, and his passion for promoting sports was free from selfish interests.

He was truly one of a kind, a man whose era stands distinct and unlikely to be replicated.

The passing of Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima is a profound loss to the sporting community and the nation at large. He was a distinguished sports administrator, a man of integrity, and a philanthropist whose contributions left a lasting impact on Nigerian football.

As a former Chairman of the Nigerian Football Association and former Chairman of Kano Pillars F.C., he exemplified honesty, dedication, and visionary leadership, helping to shape the growth and credibility of sports in Nigeria.

On behalf of all well-wishers, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, the government and people of Kano State, and indeed the entire nation of Nigeria over this great loss.

May Almighty Allah grant him eternal rest and give his family, friends, and associates the strength to bear this irreparable loss. Ameen

He is a Godly person, one whose trustworthiness was something else. Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, in 1999, after the conclusion of the FIFA U-17 World Cup, served as the Chairman of the Reception Committee in the Kano zone. He returned the remaining funds, eleven million, one hundred thousand naira, to the Federal Government treasury.

As Chairman of the Organizing Committee for Kano Pillars Football Club during the CAF Champions League, after the competition, he returned the sum of sixty-three million naira, being the balance, to the Kano State Government treasury.

In 1989, while serving as the Commissioner for Works and Housing in Kano State, he supervised the construction of housing units in the Jambulo area behind Bayero University.

After completion, he handed over all the houses to the Kano State Government without taking a single one for himself.

Dr. Murtala Musa, Ag Chairman, Kano State Sports CommissionAg Chairman

I knew him as a man of rare integrity, transparency, and trust qualities he upheld not just in words, but in action throughout his life. He carried himself with dignity and honesty, earning the confidence and respect of all who came across him.

He was a person of strong moral character, guided by firm principles and a deep sense of responsibility. His decisions were shaped by fairness and accountability, never by personal gain.

Above all, his life reflected a solid religious foundation, which defined his values, strengthened his discipline, and guided his interactions with others.

Muhammad Mansour Ibrahim, Journalist and former Secretary Kano SWAN/VP Northvp

Late Ibrahim Galadima, former NFA Chairman, was a man of principle and discipline, he is someone who valued time and honored every invitation with punctuality.

I had a personal experience with him during my time as Kano SWAN Secretary. He would often arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled time and wait patiently.

However, if the program did not start as agreed, he would quietly take his leave. That was the kind of man he was—one who lived by time, honesty, and straightforwardness.

May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus. Ameen.

Bashir Ahmad Maizare, PhD, former Director Technical, Kano State Sports CommissionMaiza

Late Ibrahim Galadima served with distinction as a Sports Administrator in Kano State, following his appointment and inauguration as Chairman of the newly established Kano State Sports Commission on 24th February 2016.

His appointment was made by the then Executive Governor of Kano State, Dr  Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, alongside a nine-member governing board.

During his tenure, which spanned approximately eight years from 24th February 2016 to 26th May 2023.

His period in office was marked by institutional reforms and sustained efforts toward strengthening sports structures and programs across Kano State.

    Abba Dukawa, Journalist, commentatorDukawaa

The passing of Ibrahim Galadima, a former football promoter and administrator, is a significant loss to sports administration and to Nigeria as a whole.

His contributions to the development of Nigerian football from the grassroots to the international stage will be remembered for many years to come.

Ibrahim Gwadabe, Kano State Football Coaches ChairmanGwadab

Every departed soul is being remembered with what he did while alive. Indeed, late Ibrahim Galadima will continue to be remembered for his righteousness, honesty, dedication to his responsibilities, mentorship, and accountability and above all, fear of God in all his dealings.

He was not such a person that will deceive you, for him to be applauded. His yes is yes and no is no in so far he believes what he does is the right thing to do. We will continue to live with his legacy and foresight for years to come.

May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and reward his goods abundantly with jannatul Firdausi.

Ahmad Rufai RB, Journalist and former secretary Kano SWANRB

I woke up in the early hours of Sunday as my routine to check on happenings around me, from online news channels and to follow with my weekend sports engagements.

A shocking content that circulated almost all the Nigerian News channels was the sad news of the demise of Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima- MFR, former Chairman of the NFF!

The shock came with a sudden glimpse of darkness in my brain which was never expected! But, a Muslim, we always pray and seek Allah ‘s mercy because we always find solace in praising Allah SWT and to accept our destiny that, From Allah SWT we all came and to Him we all shall return.

Late Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima- was a distinguished personality in all ramifications. I have had the privilege to serve under his leadership in various capacities, few among these:

*The LOC chairman of Kano sub-seat in the under-20 FIFA world cup 1999 and under 17 FIFA world cup 2007

*Kano high powered technical committee for the establishment of Kano Sports institute

*Commitee on Kano Sports awards in 2001, to mention a few.

Late Alhaji was an astute gentleman whose integrity and honesty had been tested and never found lapsing.

Alhaji can be best remembered with 3 qualities that I have never seen in our today’s leaders.

    1. He never tolerated indiscipline of any kind by those under and above him
    2. He had never been accused, suspected of alleged of stealing public funds or corruption of any sort!

Whatever the amount is dispensed to him to operate, he always stood firmly to abide by his budget and make sure he retires balance back to the government.

    1. Respected, support and honoured who ever came to him for moral, professional and personal support!

We indeed have lost a rare gem. A leader by example and a father whose demise have created a wide vacuum that may not be filled too soon.

Oh Allah, grant him Mercy and accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus. Ameen

Lastly, these are just a few of the contributions I was able to gather at this time. I will share additional tributes from others who responded later as they come in.

Together, we join in bidding farewell to Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, praying that Allah forgives his shortcomings and grants him Aljannatul Firdaus. May Allah also grant his family, friends, and the entire sports community the strength and patience to bear this great loss. Ameen.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
