The group stage of the ongoing Kano State Higher Institution Games came to an end on Sunday evening at the Northwest University Kano Centre, with a closely contested encounter between KUST Kabo and the College of Legal and Islamic Studies (CLIS), which ended 1-0 in favour of the Kano-based side.
With the completion of the group fixtures, the football competition will move into the quarter-final stage on Monday, with all matches scheduled to take place simultaneously across different centres.
According to the competition’s Desk Officer, Malam Abdulkabir Sulaiman, Federal College of Agricultural Produce Technology (FCAPT) will face Federal University of Science and Technology (FUST) Kabo at the Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education venue.
At the Northwest University Kano Centre, Federal College of Education Technical (FCET) Bichi will battle Bayero University Kano (BUK) for a place in the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, Northwest University will lock horns with Capital City University at the Yusuf Maitama Sule University of Education Centre.
The final quarter-final fixture will see Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education take on the College of Nursing at the Northwest University Centre.
The knockout stage is expected to produce exciting encounters as institutions continue their pursuit of the championship title.
