Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN)  in collaboration with National committee on Adolescent Health  and Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) have organised a sensitization awareness campaign against Iron deficiency anaemia at Government Girls College formerly WTC Kano.

Dr. Halima Adamu who described the iron deficiency as one of the foremost contributions to disease burden around the world, predominantly affecting young. Children (mainly 5 years) premenopausal women and population groups from low and middle income countries.

She added that a systematic review investigated children and iron deficiency and the results found the global prevalence of iron deficiency to mostly  underdeveloped nations.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
