The first Kanawa Tertiary Institution Basketball Championship has begun well for Bayero University Kano BUK and the Aliko Dangote University of Science, Wudil.
The competition, which is being held at the BUK Basketball Court in partnership with the DAM Foundation, draws a sizable crowd of spectators.

Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology crushed Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University KHAIRUN 55-04 points, while Bayero University Kano trounced Baba Ahmed University 55-15 in the first game. In their second game, Aliko Dangote easily defeated Elrazi Medical University Kano 20-0 via a walk-over.
The Federal University of Education Kano vs. Skyline University game has been moved to the same location for today, Tuesday.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, the BUK, Director of Sports, Professor Rabiu Muhammad and former football international player, charged the participants to exhibit sportsmanship and discipline in order to achieve the set objective.
While commending the competition’s sponsors, DAM Foundation for supporting the students through competition, he urged other wealthy individuals and organizations to emulate.
In his remarks, the representative of DAM Foundation, Dr. Abdulrhman Shuaibu applauded the participants for their maximum support and cooperation, appealing to them to sustain the tempo for a hitch free tournament.
Among the dignitaries who graced the occasion include the chairman Technical Committee of the Nigerian University Games Association NUGA and also chairman sports committee of BUK, Professor Musa Garba Yakasai AA, the deputy director of sports, Dr Madaki among others.
