2024/25 league season: Whither Kano Pillars

Few days to the commencement of the 2024/25 league season, nothing about the preparation and readiness of the Kano Pillars Football Club is heard from the new management of the team.

The new league season is billed to commence coming Saturday throughout the country but the new management of the Sai Masu Gida is yet to reveal anything towards its readiness for the season.

The only thing the management of the team has made known was the announcement of the recruitment of Usman Abdallah as the new sweat merchant of the team.

But the full detail about the actual content or detail of the contract between the coach and the team was not unfolded. The only thing that was made known was the time involved.

On the recruitment of players, the club is yet to reveal those it  signed and those retained.

The club management is yet to disclose the number of players it sacked or lost to other clubs.

Our findings revealed that the Sai Masu Gida had tested many of those players they penciled down as their new recruited players in Jos, the capital of Plateau state during the just concluded Ahlan/Gusau Pre-season tournament.

Whatever the case may be, we are waiting for the full list of those  recruited, those transferred to other teams and those to be dropped.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
