To avoid a repeat of the tragedy that befell Kano state last weekend, in which 22 agile persons were killed in a fatal bus accident, the state’s sports stakeholders have been asked to jointly petition the Kano state government to prohibit NIGHT travel.
Ibrahim Gwadabe, the chairman of the Kano State Football Coaches Association, made the plea yesterday when he called to condole this website, State Sports Commission and Kano State Government on the tragic and unfortunate event that happened last Saturday.
According to him, his findings have revealed that the driver may have become exhausted as a result of a sleepy night caused by night driving and exhaustion.
To avoid this, the Kano Coaches Chairman has encouraged all sports stakeholders to join forces in calling on the Kano state government to prohibit NIGHT travel, not only for sports excursions, but for any official trip involving government officials or events.
“The action, according to him, will drastically reduce or even prevent this kind of tragedy in future.” He added.
Ibrahim Gwadabe also urged that the government should develop a robust transit system for this purpose.
“All buses that are up to five years old and not in good condition should not be allowed to embark on such trips,” his request stated.
