Kano Pillars are on course, Says Chairman Mai Samba

Contrary to speculation circulating on some local radio stations, which criticized the management of Kano Pillars Football Club for allegedly underperforming during the ongoing NPFL transfer window, the club’s chairman, Ali Nayara popularly known as Mai Samba has firmly dismissed the claims.

Describing the reports as false and misleading, Mai Samba emphasized that they are little more than attempts by detractors to discredit the club’s leadership and distract the team from its objectives.

He made these clarifications during a telephone interview with this site earlier this morning, explaining that the club’s management, in close collaboration with the technical crew, is actively taking all necessary measures to address and fill every gap identified during the first round of the league.

The goal, he stressed, is to strengthen the team and ensure optimal performance in the remaining matches.

Mai Samba revealed that even before the conclusion of the first round, the management had already identified weaknesses in the squad and took proactive steps to remedy them.

This early assessment led the team to approach carefully selected players who had been under observation, aiming to reinforce weak areas and boost performance once the league resumes.

The chairman further disclosed that seven players including attackers, midfielders, and defenders have already joined the squad.

The management is currently putting the finishing touches on their transfers, ensuring that all arrangements are finalized and that the new signings are fully integrated into Kano Pillars to make an immediate impact.

When pressed about the identities of these new additions, Mai Samba declined to disclose their names or former clubs, promising instead to reveal them at the appropriate time.

He reassured fans that the announcement would be made soon and that the new signings are expected to significantly strengthen the squad.

Mai Samba concluded by urging anyone who has concerns or grievances with the club’s management to first approach the leadership directly for clarification, rather than spreading unverified information.

He emphasized that reporting false claims not only misleads the public but also violates the fundamental ethics of responsible journalism.

He further noted that such actions undermine the progress of the team and the integrity of sports reporting in the state.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
