With attention already shifting to the 2026/27 NPFL season, Kano Pillars Football Club is set to return to full training next but one Monday as the club begins preparations aimed at assembling a stronger side capable of challenging for honours in the new campaign.

The Chairman of the club’s management board, Ali Muhammad Nayara, popularly known as Mai Samba, disclosed this in a telephone conversation with this platform this morning. Friday.

According to him, the management is scheduled to meet this coming Monday to conduct a comprehensive review of the club’s performance in the just-concluded season, with the aim of identifying shortcomings, evaluating areas that require strengthening, and putting in place the necessary reforms to reposition the team for a stronger and more successful campaign ahead.

Mai Samba explained that the review exercise is designed to critically assess the factors that contributed to the team’s inconsistent performances last season, identify areas requiring improvement, and implement corrective measures that will help the club avoid a repeat of the setbacks experienced during the campaign.

He expressed confidence that the lessons learned from the review process would help position Kano Pillars for a stronger and more successful outing in the forthcoming season.

“We are going to carefully reviewing last season’s performance to identify where we got things wrong. Once we identify those shortcomings, we will take the necessary steps to correct them so that they do not continue to hinder our progress,” Mai Samba assured.

The Kano Pillars chairman stressed that the management remains committed to restoring the club to its traditional position among the leading teams in Nigerian football.

He noted that plans are being put in place to strengthen the team both on and off the pitch ahead of the new season.

He further appealed to supporters, stakeholders, government officials, and football lovers across the state to continue supporting the club’s rebuilding efforts.

“Kano Pillars belongs to all of us. We need the support, prayers, and cooperation of everyone as we work towards returning the club to where it truly belongs,” Mai Samba added.

Ali Muhammad Nayara Mai Samba, also commended the Governor of Kano State, His Excellency Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his continued and unwavering support to Kano Pillars Football Club.

He noted that the governor’s commitment to the development of the team has remained a key source of encouragement to the management and players, especially during challenging periods.

Mai Samba further assured that the club’s leadership and technical crew are determined to justify the confidence reposed in them by putting in their utmost effort to restore Kano Pillars to greatness and improve the team’s overall performance in the upcoming season.

Kano Pillars endured a difficult campaign last season, with results falling below the expectations of many supporters.

However, the early resumption of training and the ongoing review process are seen as positive steps towards ensuring a better outing in the upcoming league season.

The Sai Masu Gida faithful will be hoping that the lessons learned from the previous campaign will translate into improved performances and a renewed challenge for domestic honours in the 2026/27 season.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
