Mai Samba: Most successful Pillars boss in recent times

Though it is too early to make a judgment on his Kano Pillars leadership role because the league is only halfway, but the current chairman of Kano Pillars Football Club, Ali Nayara Mai Samba, is the most active and successful chairman of the team in recent memory.

The squad’s near-superlative success in the current National Premier Football League (NPFL) and his outstanding leadership position within the team are the reasons for this.

I recalled that a number of people questioned his ability to guide the team to a bright future when the state government appointed him as the team’s chairman at the conclusion of the previous soccer season.

However, based on the first round outcomes so far, Mai Samba has embarrassed many of his detractors and critics with an unexpected performance while leading the team to win.

I see him as the most successful chairman the team has had in recent years, piloting Kano Pillars with the extensive knowledge he gained in football club management some decades ago.

In Nigerian soccer today, Ali Nayara Mai Samba is quietly changing the team into something new. As teams now become agitated whenever they play Kano Pillars, whether at home or away.

It is not surprising that Mai Samba regularly sets and meets his goals, exhibits fortitude in the face of adversity, and has a strong work ethic motivated by a desire to always be at the top.

Because of this, he frequently demonstrates leadership abilities within the team and achieves notable successes and advancements for the team, too. His delivery was aided by a number of behaviors.

Ali Nayara consistently maintains his motivation and optimism, which helps him find purpose and achieve outcomes in his Kano Pillars leadership. Because he is goal-oriented and thinks constructively, he has a clear vision and aim for the team. He stands out from the rest because of the 19 games his squad played last round, many of which he won and many of which he drew.

He led Kano Pillars to wins in Edo and Enugu states, where they defeated Bendel Insurance 1-0 on their home field and Enugu Rangers International 4-3. In addition, Mai Samba led Kano Pillars to two away draws: a 2-2 draw with Lobi Stars in Makurdi and a 1-1 draw with Bayelsa United.

In the rescheduled league home game match, Mai Samba’s boys  thrashed Aba’s dreadful Enyimba 2-0.

After handing over the team to Ali Mai Samba, the state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and his commissioner of sports, Hon. Mustapha Kwankwaso, are undoubtedly content and at peace because Mai Samba has restored peace in the club and also produced good results for the team.

To show their joy and appreciation, the government of Abba gida-Gida paid for the team’s airline tickets to Lagos for their Ikorodo second-round league match because of their outstanding performance against Enyimba.

In order to get continental ticket, I pray that he and the team maintain the pace by winning their next matches. Ameen.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
