Now that Pillars has at last broken long-standing jinx…

Still basking in the excitement of their hard-earned 2–1 victory over the determined and resilient Ikorodu City FC from Lagos last Monday at the Katsina Stadium, Kano Pillars FC must now bring the festivities to a close.

While that victory was indeed encouraging and had a positive impact on spirits, the moment for celebration has passed.

This is due to the fact that maintaining the current momentum in the league is crucial at this pivotal point in the season.

The team cannot afford to be distracted by a single match over many to come, no matter how encouraging it was.

Instead, they need to prioritize establishing reliability, refining their strategies, and approaching each new game with the same enthusiasm and resolve they displayed in the previous contest.

Only by doing so can they turn this victory into the beginning of a positive run which is capable of lifting them away from the bottom of the table and restoring the confidence of both the players and their passionate supporters.

Pillars must now work toward sustaining this winning streak which will steadily see them out of the danger zone.

Every fixture from this point forward is more than just a game, it is a crucial opportunity to gain valuable points, move further away from the bottom of the league table, and gradually reclaim a more secure and respectable position, if not among the NPFL contenders.

To achieve this, the team must maintain consistency in their performances, commit to hard work both on and off the pitch, and uphold strict tactical discipline in every match.

These qualities will not only help them navigate the challenges ahead by equipping them with resilience, determination, and strategic thinking.

It will also restore the confidence of their supporters who have long believed in their potential, and reawaken the club’s competitive spirit that drives their performance on the field.

Moreover, it will also reaffirm Kano Pillars’ rightful status as one of the Nigeria Premier Football League’s most formidable and respected sides.

It will see them showcasing their enduring strength, consistent success, and the high level of skill and teamwork that sets them apart from other teams in the league.

The management and the technical crew must work hand in hand, fostering strong collaboration and clear communication to ensure that every decision and strategy aligns with the club’s goals.

They need to remain focused and committed to maximizing the team’s potential, leaving no stone unturned.

It is vital for Kano Pillars to take advantage of this significant chance to escape the relegation zone, using this critical instance to solidify their position in the league and establish a basis for success down the line.

They must remember that the team requires immediate additions, particularly players who contribute enhanced skill and improved abilities to the team.

Enhancing the squad with talented and seasoned athletes will not just elevate the team’s overall effectiveness, but will also provide additional strength and flexibility, allowing the club to more effectively manage the challenges presented by the league.

These thoughtfully selected new players can offer the essential advantage required to enhance the team’s competitiveness and consistency in future games.

We are eagerly waiting and sincerely praying for many more victories like these to come Pillars way. Each win fuels hope and strengthens belief in the team’s potential.

Our anticipation grows as we look forward to continued success on the field, hoping the players maintain their momentum and bring even greater achievements in the matches ahead.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
