Former Kano state commissioner of information, Alhaji Baba Halilu Dantiye (MON) has congratulated Alhaji Inuwa Idris Yakassai,  for his successful retirement from service.

Dantiye conveyed his heartfelt congratulations message to Yakasai in a formal letter addressed to him, noting that his well-deserved retirement comes after many years of meritorious and dedicated service to the Kano State Civil Service, particularly in your roles as Director of Information and later as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information.

Baba Halilu Dantiye, the former President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, described Yakasai’s tenure as one characterized by exceptional dedication, unwavering integrity, high professionalism, and a steadfast commitment to excellence in all his endeavors.

“You consistently set high standards that not only advanced the Ministry’s goals but also inspired everyone who worked with you,” Dantiye added.

The former Information Commissioner also noted that, as Director, Yakasai’s leadership and mentorship cultivated a culture of discipline, teamwork, and professionalism.

In doing so, according to Dantiye, Yakasai not only built an efficient and effective department but also fostered a sense of unity, creating a closely-knit “family” bound together by mutual respect, shared values, and a common purpose.

Dantiye further expressed that he particularly cherished the period during which he and Yakasai worked closely together, noting that their collaboration during his tenure as Honourable Commissioner in the Ministry was both productive and deeply rewarding.

“Your deep understanding of the information and communication landscape, coupled with your creativity, cooperation, and diligence, made our collaboration highly productive. It was truly a privilege to witness your steadfast commitment to the Ministry’s mission,” the former editors’ president noted.

The former Triumph editor turned politician further stated that Yakasai’s tenure as Acting Permanent Secretary highlighted his wisdom, foresight, and exceptional leadership abilities, even in the face of challenging circumstances.

As he approached every responsibility with humility, fairness, and a selfless commitment to serving the greater good, consistently demonstrating a rare combination of competence, integrity, and dedication that earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and subordinates alike.

“As you step into this new and fulfilling chapter of life, may you take immense pride in your outstanding accomplishments and the countless lives you have touched. Your legacy will live on in the institutions you strengthened and the many professionals you mentored,” Dantiye added.

“May your retirement be filled with peace, good health, joy, and contentment. You have served with honour and distinction, and you truly deserve every happiness ahead, Baba Halilu Dantiye concluded.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
