They are truly the last of the Mohicans. While many of their contemporaries have long hung up their boots and faded away from the spotlight, Rabiu Ali and Ahmed Musa continue to stand tall, still competing, still leading, and still delivering when it matters most.

For years, Rabiu Ali, fondly called “Pele,” has remained the heartbeat of Kano Pillars F.C.. His longevity in the game is not ordinary.

Season after season, he has carried the club with unmatched passion, discipline, and loyalty.

At a time when consistency is rare, he has shown that dedication, professionalism, and love for the badge can keep a player relevant far beyond expectations.

Ahmed Musa, on the other hand, has built a career defined by resilience, patriotism, and service to both club and country.

From the streets of Jos to the biggest stages in world football, his journey has been one of determination, sacrifice, and consistency.

He has worn the green and white jersey with pride, carrying the hopes of millions whenever he steps onto the pitch.

From his memorable performances at the FIFA World Cup to his leadership role within the Super Eagles setup, Ahmed Musa has continued to prove that experience and commitment still matter in modern football.

Beyond his achievements on the field, he has also become a mentor and role model to younger players, constantly encouraging discipline, hard work, and humility.

Even in difficult moments, criticism, and setbacks, he remained focused and committed to the game and the nation he represents.

His career stands as a powerful reminder that true legends are not only remembered for goals and trophies, but also for loyalty, leadership, and the positive impact they leave behind.

From unforgettable World Cup performances to mentoring younger players, he has represented Nigeria with pride both on and off the pitch.

His journey remains a reminder that true greatness is measured not only by trophies, but also by character, sacrifice, and leadership. Together, these two veterans represent far more than football talent.

They embody commitment, humility, loyalty, and excellence, values that are gradually disappearing in the modern game where money and fame often overshadow passion and identity.

May their story inspire the next generation to play not only for personal gain, but for the crest, the badge, and the millions of supporters who live for the game.

I was a staff of the then Triumph Newspapers, with keen interest in sports journalism which drove me to the unit where I was supported and oiled in the dynamics of modern sports reporting by my mentor/friend, Sani Zaria, the then Group Sports Editor of the Triumph. And when he left in 1995, I tried to sustain the spirit against all odds with a column sportesye. But when The Triumph was closed, I was moved to Kano Polytechnic as a lecturer until my retirement last 3 years, which gives me time to return to what I know best , the recreation of the SPORTS EYE.
